Homeowners can incur fines for violations of rules and ignoring Board warnings.

LAWN CARE:

It is important to maintain yards in an attractive manner. That means keeping grass mowed, bushes trimmed, and weeds under control.

MAILBOXES:

The Board has approved uniform mailbox posts for use throughout the neighborhood.

Posts should be replaced before they become unsightly e.g. cracking, leaning, etc.

If a post is replaced with an unapproved one, the homeowner will be required to replace it with one in compliance.

Please see the images below for specifications and US Postal Service requirements. Treated wood should be used and the post should be installed in cement. You may place a new post yourself or select your own service provider. There are contacts in the Service Providers tab who are familiar with the requirements and who do good work.

FENCES:

The Board has approved a standard for all fences. Please see the document below for details. It is important to maintain consistency throughout the neighborhood.

EXTERIOR PAINT COLORS:

There are four approved colors for trim (including gutters and downspouts) and garage doors which are required to match:

  • White
  • Rock Garden (gray)
  • Indian Ivory (yellow)
  • Taos (tan)

Manufacturers, names, and formulas change over time. Please contact a Board member for a color swatch to ensure a match as close as possible. Most paint stores can scan a swatch and mix paint to match.

GARAGE DOORS:

The Board has approved metal insulated doors for replacement of the original wood garage doors. The doors must be painted the same color as the house trim.

EXTERIOR LIGHTING ON SIDES OF GARAGE:

Brass Coach Lights are the standard. Any variation from the standard should be approved by the Board.

REPLACEMENT OF WINDOWS:

Exact replacement of window frames with wood or wood grain vinyl does not need Board approval. Any variation including color from the standard must be approved by the Board. All window frames, trim, gutters, downspouts, and garage doors should be of matching color.

BRICKS AND SHINGLES:

The Original Brick (Queen Size Cordova from Jenkins Brick Co.) is no longer available. The closest match approved by Board is Old English Tudor or Osage from General Shale Company at Jenkins Brick in Pelham, AL.

Weathered Gray.   Additionally, for homes with trim paint colors of White, Indian Ivory (yellow), or Taos (tan), CertainTeed Landmark Premium Max Def Burnt Sienna shingles may be used.  Available at ABC Supply Co. Inc. 900 13th Street, North (205-328-3413). The board has also approved use of three tabbed shingles made by Timberline and Landmark.
